Per a recent interview, she created the journal in 2015, later launched several other products, and sold the business for $45M in 2022 
It all began when Cathryn had only $800 to her name and decided to start a side hustle…
The idea for the Self Journal stemmed from a personal need.
After realizing I had ADHD later in life, I struggled with staying organized. I created the journal by combining frameworks from various personal development books I’d read and putting my own spin on them.
So basically Cathryn figured out a way to manage a personal struggle (ADHD), then created a product to help other people do the same.
