Alan Blanco could name any boat and its rough price by age twelve.
In 2016 someone messaged him for tips on growing @centerconsolesonly. Alan liked it better than the boat page he already ran, so he made an offer instead – $7,000 for 30,000 followers.
Then he pitched promotion on the page to a boat builder he knew – a company that had sold one boat 
I actually got them to give me half of the seven grand, so $3,500 in exchange. We helped them grow their company. They were at one boat sale, I think, in their infancy. We got them to 16 or 18.
In 2017 he added a monthly subscription for boat manufacturers…

The first ten or twelve clients took countless cold calls. The page is past 540,000 followers now, and the business raised $2.5M this year 
Pages like this still trade – one seller on FameSwap reports moving a 72,000-follower page for $5,000 
(Instagram’s terms don’t allow transfers though, so there’s some risk there.)
