A solo house cleaner writes that he needed work fast for his college-age daughter, home for the summer…
I didn’t pay her. I just said for every person she gets from the flyers she hands out I would give her a $30 commission.
She only did one hour of passing them out and we got three new clients from that flyer drop. Two are actually weekly clients now.
A weekly visit from one cleaner goes for $75 to $135, so those two are probably worth $700 a month or more
Nothing fancy about the design…
The flyer has a catchy phrase, call to action, my phone number and a very short description of what I clean. Not much else. I print it in black and white too. Not very professional looking at all but it works great.
No door knocking, he just tucks them in the storm door.
Never in the mailbox, that’s a federal offense
He picks neighborhoods with lots of kids, figuring the parents are too busy to clean.
His takeaway…
I honestly don’t understand why no one seems to want to do flyers anymore.
There’s the opportunity: charge local service businesses to design and drop flyers on their behalf
